UC Nature & Sentinel Sites for Nature Summer Research Opportunity

In collaboration with the One Health Institute, UC Nature and Sentinel Sites for Nature announce Summer Research Fellowships for 2026. The fellowship is designed to provide students with funding to conduct research at the intersection of animal and plant biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, and people using data collected from any or all of our research sites across California (see map below). Projects can make use of existing data from Sentinel Sites or students can visit any of the 40 UC Nature Field Stations that comprise part of the Sentinel Sites network to collect new field data. We are specifically interested in creative approaches that transform data into meaningful products to guide conservation or inform the One Health approach. Students must have a UC faculty mentor. The fellowship will provide up to $5,000 to be used in support of project costs within 1 year. Funds can be used to support a student stipend, supplies, and travel activities related to the project.

Please submit a 2-page proposal that identifies the opportunity, research questions, analytical methods. The third page should have references as well as a budget breakdown table. Send completed applications along with a UC faculty mentor support letter pdf to [email protected] by May 18, 2026.
