Bruno recently joined the One Health Institute as a field researcher. Upon completion of his PhD in Ecology at the University of Tennessee, he will assume the position of Postdoctoral Scholar, splitting his time between Davis and Sierra Leone. He received his DVM from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Peru and worked as a veterinary research scientist with the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit 6 in Lima Peru, leading the Avian Influenza Surveillance program. During this program, Bruno participated in multiple studies on rodent and bat zoonotic disease surveillance, as well as Swine flu surveillance and primate zoonotic disease epidemiology. In his spare time Bruno enjoys dancing (salsa, anyone?), hiking, nature photography and rock climbing.
