Bio

Dr. Emily McCobb is the inaugural PetSmart Charities Endowed Chair in Accessible Veterinary Care. Dr. McCobb comes to the UC Davis One Health Institute from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University where she served as Director of Shelter Medicine for 15 years. She is a boarded anesthesiologist and also has a Masters of Animals in Public Policy (MAPP).

At Cummings, Dr. McCobb oversaw the on-campus spay neuter clinic, veterinary outreach program, and helped develop a low-cost primary care clinic for underserved pet owners. She taught in all four years of the DVM curriculum and taught Masters students in the MAPP program. Courses she taught included Human Animal Relationships, Ethics, Euthanasia, Shelter Medicine, Anesthesiology and Pain Management, and Disaster Response. Her research interests are focused on Accessible Veterinary Care.

At UC Davis her focus will be on supporting existing Access to Care programs and developing new student opportunities for clinical training and research.
