Teresa (Tera) Sorvillo recently joined the One Health Institute as a Postdoctoral Researcher. She is a Southern California native, graduating with her BS degree in biology from Loyola Marymount University. She spent several years after college pursuing her interest in public health at the SGV-Mosquito & Vector Control District in West Covina, CA where she led surveillance activities for endemic arboviral and zoonotic diseases. In 2013, she moved to Galveston, TX to pursue her PhD in Virology at the University of Texas Medical Branch where her research focused on high consequence viruses requiring biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) containment. Outside of work & science, she loves hiking, traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her dog-child, Rainey.
