The UC Davis Students for One Health and UC Davis One Health Institute are currently accepting abstracts for the 13th Annual UC Davis One Health Symposium Research Poster Contest!
Eligibility
Submissions can be submitted individually or within a duo/team. Each individual/team is allowed 1 entry. Authors of accepted submissions must be present at the event to win. No plagiarism. The abstract poster must consist of the presenter’s own work.
Theme
We are looking for posters on research projects focusing on topics surrounding One Health at the cross section of animal health, human health, and/or environmental health.
Judging Criteria
Posters will be scored by selected faculty and one health professionals on the day of the symposium.
1. Connection to One Health: One health links human, animal and environmental health. Your abstract doesn’t have to cover all three areas, but it should be applicable to these topics.
- A clear connection to at least two areas within One Health (human, animal, or environmental health). Any translational research satisfies this requirement.
- Relevance to current public health, veterinary, or environmental issues
2. Research Quality and Rigor:
- A clear goal or research question
- Appropriate methods for your research project
- Clear results or progress if the project is still ongoing
- Thoughtful analysis and conclusion
3. Originality
- A fresh idea, a new approach, or a new perspective on an existing issue
- Something that adds value or insight to your field
4. Broader Impact
- Practical applications in policy, healthcare, education, or the community
- A clear connection to real-world problems
5. Clarity and organization
- A logical flow that is easy to follow
- Clear writing that avoids (or explains) technical jargon
- Something that people outside your specific field can still understand
Deadline
All submissions must be received by 11:59 PM Pacific Time on September 20, 2026. Submissions will be voted upon by selected faculty judges at the 2026 One Health Symposium and winners will be announced at the end of the symposium.
