Billy Thein

William (Billy) Thein was hired a few weeks ago as an operations supervisor for the California Raptor Center where he has been volunteering for 26 years. He earned a BS in conservation biology through Sacramento State University in 2012. For the past 15 years he has worked for various federal agencies and consulting firms as a seasonal field biologist. He has surveyed for Northern Goshawks, Ridgway's Rails, Spotted Owls, Great Gray Owls, Pacific Fishers, Salt Marsh Harvest Mice, and Desert Tortoises to name a few. 

When it’s not nesting season he enjoys woodworking, SCUBA diving, Judo, sewing, backpacking, and photography.
