Peter Sebastian is a third year PhD candidate in the Epidemiology graduate group at the University of California, Davis with an emphasis in Wildlife Epidemiology. Prior to UC Davis, he completed his DVM at the University of Minnesota and aims to combine his veterinary skills with epidemiology training to improve the health of wildlife populations and mitigate the risks of disease transmission between wildlife and humans or domestic animals. As a member of the Johnson Lab, he is currently investigating risk factors of antimicrobial resistance in multiple wildlife species, including southern sea otters with special emphasis on the importance of the coastal marine ecosystem in antimicrobial resistance transmission.
Peter is supported by a National Institute of Health T32 Training Grant in Comparative Medicine at UC Davis.
