Our ability to mitigate disease emergence is undermined by our poor understanding of the diversity and ecology of viral threats, and of the drivers of their emergence. The Global Virome Project (GVP) builds on the USAID PREDICT program with the aim to identify the bulk of viral threats in animals with the highest potential to cause disease in humans and inform public health interventions against future pandemics.
